Good Evening
Transfer of the new swarm to their new home on Friday went well. We got a good break in the weather and the wind had dies right down since the day before. I have been by for a peek yesterday and today and they are out and about and appear to be doing orientation flights so that is a good sign. The first swarm from Friday before last has settled in and seem to be full steam ahead.
It has been a little cold and wet in the last day but is going to warm up from mid weekish. We have no rain forecast for at least a week as well so I am expecting there may be more swarms cast towards from Wednesday. It would be great if they could conveniently land in the swarm box I have placed under the tea tree but most likely not, cos hey that would be to easy. I also have a full week at work this week so may not be home in time to catch them if they do indeed land in my tree.
We are still hoping to put the catch box in the tree at the park. They are still looking reasonable full so may not have cast off yet but time is getting away from us and things have been busy.
We will be looking at doing an inspection on Hive A fairly soon make sure all it well in there. Population seems to be rebuilding since half the hive left in the cast off and I saw signs on new brood doing orientation today.
Okay out for now and will try to do at least brief updates during the week.
